Festival of Voices 2021 announces drops first line up | The Examiner

Festival of Voices is warming up its vocal chords with the long-awaited first artist drop released yesterday. Among the acts announced was one of Sydney’s hottest rock bands, Polish Club. Joining the band in first line up drop is John O’Hara, Baby et Lulu, Amelia Ryan and Libby O’Donovan, Don Kay, and the Voices @ 5 performance. IN OTHER NEWS: Festival director Peter Choraziak said the program would be announced in stages, due to the extra planning involved with COVID-19 safety regulations. “COVID-19 and the resultant restrictions has made organising this year’s festival more interesting, but we’re pleased to be at a stage where we can finally announce some of the exciting acts that locals and visitors can look forward to this winter,” he said. “We are excited because we are going for a full program. We are putting on a full festival.” Mr Choraziak said he was looking forward to presenting a program with a lot more local works. Choral curator Joan Wright OAM said the festival was proud to premiere new commissions that amplified Tasmanian artists, stories and songs. She said there would be something for everyone at the festival. RELATED NEWS: 2021 Festival of Voices shares new fundraising initiative “We created 21 workshops in all so people can pick and choose their own menu.” Mr Choraziak agreed, and said he was especially looking forward to bringing back the participation events, where the crowd was able to join in. “It’s one big sing-along.” The festival will feature a mix of concerts, choirs, cabaret, contemporary performances, family-friendly and pop up events, as well as workshops. Mr Choraziak urged patrons to book early, with numbers limited due to restrictions. Festival of Voices will run in Hobart from June 30 to July 11. More information visit
